Adams Electric Cooperative and Ameren co-sponsored an electrical safety demonstration on March 21 for area first responders. The presentation, called Live Line Demo, Inc. was held at Camp Point Fire Department. Approximately 100 first responders attended the event.
The program was presented by Steve Hancock, who is a trained lineman and owner of Live Line Demo, Inc. The Live Line Demo display unit captivates audiences and sends participants away with a much greater respect for electricity and the dangers associated with it.
Hancock warned audiences about several hazards involving electricity when responding to accidents. He also discussed the importance of installing ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) for all receptacles used in the bathroom, kitchen, and outdoors (all places near water). Hancock reminded first responders that downed lines can energize vehicles and the ground surrounding the area.
The Live Line Demo presentation has saved lives. Adams Electric Cooperative and Ameren are pleased to sponsor the Live Line Demo program. For more information, contact Bill Stalder at Adams Electric Cooperative at (800) 232-4797.
