Angel Food Cake

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups egg whites about 12
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. clear vanilla
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar

Instructions
 

  • Sift together cake flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Set aside. Add egg whites, salt, cream of tartar, vanilla, and almond extract to mixer. Beat with wire whip until soft peaks form. Add 1 1/3 cups sugar in 4 additions, beat until well blended after each addition. Add flour mixture in 4 additions, folding in each time. Pour into ungreased 10 inch tube pan. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool upside down. Optional: Serve with fruit.
