Boston Cookies

Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/3 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup currants
  • Pecans or walnut halves
  • Sugar

Instructions
 

  • Beat butter on med./high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Beat until well combined. Add eggs and beat until combined. Beat in as much flour as possible. Stir in remaining flour, chopped nuts, raisins, and currants. Drop by teaspoonfuls two inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Top each with a nut half and sprinkle with additional sugar. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Makes about 70 cookies.
