Chocolate Pinwheel Cookies

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 egg yolk unbeaten
  • 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder


  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Cream butter thoroughly. Add sugar gradually and cream well. Add egg and vanilla and beat. Add flour alternating with milk, mixing well after each addition. Divide in two halves and add chocolate to one. Roll each half between sheets of wax paper, about 1/8 thick. Chill. Place one half on top of other half and roll up like a jelly roll. Bake ungreased 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.
