Crescent Dinner Rolls

Submitted by Gerald Neumann (Delicious, fun, and easy to make)

  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Butter melted

  • Dissolve yeast in water. Bring milk, sugar, and shortening to a boil. Let cool. Mix flour and salt. Add egg to yeast mixture. In mixer, mix yeast, milk, and flour mixtures alternately. Turn out on floured surface. Knead until easy to work. Cover and let rise 2-3 hours until double in size. Cut in half. Roll each into a circle. Spread melted butter on both. Cut each circle into pie shape, 12 pieces each. Roll up from wide end. Pinch to seal. Place on cookie sheet. Let rise about 1 hour. Bake 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees. Freeze leftovers. Pop in microwave a few seconds. Just like fresh rolls.
