Deep Dish Apple Pudding


  • 2 cups apples peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup flour sifted
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 or less Tbsp. fat (butter or oleo)
  • 1/2 cup milk


  • Mix apples with flour, cinnamon, sugar, vanilla, butter and water. Pour apple mixture into a buttered baking dish. Mix sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter or oleo. Slowly add milk to form dough. Pat dough over apples. Make holes for steam to escape. Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Substitute topping: 1/2 box cake mix, 1/4 cup melted butter, and nuts.
