Garlic Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz. lo mein noodles or spaghetti noodles
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 8 oz. flank steak sliced against the grain
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 med. carrot shredded
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. hoisen sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot with boiling water, cook the noodles according to package directions. Add broccoli the last 5 minutes of cooking and let them cook until tender. Drain noodles and broccoli. While pasta is cooking, add olive oil to a medium skillet. Cook the steak until no longer pink. Add garlic and carrots and cook for a minute more. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, hoisen sauce, ginger, red peppers and pepper. Add spaghetti to the skillet and pour the sauce on top. Toss to coat.
