Heart-Shaped Gum Drops
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup apple sauce
- 1 3 oz. pkg. strawberry jello
- 1 .25 oz. pkg. unflavored gelatin
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar for coating
- Spray 8x8 baking dish with cooking spray and place in refrigerator. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar, applesauce, jello, unflavored gelatin, and lemon juice. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Pour mixture into cooled 8x8 dish. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours. Once firm, turn out onto baking sheet sprinkled with sugar. Using small heart-shaped cookie cutters, cut out gumdrops. Coat with sugar and allow to dry overnight. Store in airtight container.
