Overnight Coffee Cake

  • 3/4 cup butter softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. milk


  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Combine flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt. Add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream. Pour into greased 13x9 baking dish. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, nuts, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over cake mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 min. before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Combine powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle over warm coffee cake.
