The Penny Power grant review committee met on July 17 and awarded a total of $8,900.00 to the following groups/organizations:
- Seymour High School – $200 for stand mixer, $150 for Apple TV, $200 for skeleton, $150 for digital camera & $400 for laptop for special education department (Seymour Elementary)
- Baldwin South School – $200 for summer reading program & $650 for “Books and Boys” program
- St. Dominic School – $150 for technology in education project books & $300 for iPad
- Lions of Adams County – $300 for flag pole project at Adams County Fairgrounds
- Monroe Elementary School – $750 for Elmo and projector
- Schuyler-Industry Unit District #5 – $1,000 for vision screener and audiometer
- Horizons Social Services of Adams County – $700 to support food kitchen and food pantry
- Barry Food Pantry – $200 for food for the needy
- Cheerful Home Child Care – $800 for room divider for infant room
- Washington School – $500 for “One School, One Book” program
- Quincy Art Center – $350 for Art Mentor program
- Schuyler County Health Foundation – $1,000 for low-income dental clinic
- The Salvation Army – $500 for Kroc Center field trips
- Youth & Family Ministry/Immanuel & Trinity Lutheran Churches – $400 for kids club program
Penny Power is funded by participating members of Adams Electric Cooperative who have their electric bills rounded up to the nearest dollar. The funds are used to provide assistance to community betterment projects. The next deadline to apply for a Penny Power grant is October 1, 2012.
