The Penny Power Grant Review Committee approved eight grants for the first quarter of 2012. Three grant requests for $300 or less were also reviewed prior to the grant review committee meeting. All three were approved. Including these grants, $6,636.00 was granted to the following groups/organizations:
• Seymour Elementary School (1) – $200 for printer for speech therapy room
• Quincy Public Library Foundation – $250 for audio-visual materials for math and science related kits
• Liberty School – $300 for books for Accelerated Reader program
• Rushville-Industry High School – $1,000 toward the purchase of new laptop computers for the library
• Schuyler County Food Basket – $500 to help feed needy families
• Central High School – $1,000 toward the purchase of iPads
• Brown County High School Sting Squad – $500 toward the purchase and installation of new goal posts at Hornet Field
• Cheerful Home Childcare – $875 for musical instruments for music/movement program
• Muddy River Opera Company – $200 for transporting students to performances of “Jack and the Beanstalk” at JWCC
• Seymour Elementary School (2) – $300 toward the purchase of Elmo projection device
• Golden Historical Society – $1,511 to purchase stage lighting for the lower banquet hall
