The Penny Power Grant Review Committee met on July 30 and approved a total of $7,749.54 in grants. With this round of grants, the Penny Power program has surpassed the $750,000 mark! The following nine groups/organizations received a grant:
- $1,145 – Quincy Notre Dame High School; toward a security system for the school.
- $1,100 – St. Peter School; toward playground equipment.
- $1,450 – Schuyler County Food Basket; food pantry supplies.
- $1,500 – SCHMHA (Schuyler County Mental Health); Christmas baskets.
- $400.94 – Quincy Senior High School – classroom school supplies.
- $740 – Golden Memorial Gardens; raising stones in cemetery.
- $500 – Cornerstone: Foundation for Families; sand tray therapy
- $313.60 – Brown County Elementary School; decodable books for the classroom.
- $600 – H.E.L.P Center; school supplies.
The Penny Power program is funded by members of Adams Electric Cooperative who have their bills rounded up to the nearest dollar each month. The extra pennies are used to support community betterment projects throughout the Cooperative’s service territory. To date, $750,972.90 has been donated to area schools, food pantries, fire and police departments, senior centers, museums, as well as many others.

The grant to Cornerstone Foundation for Families for $500 officially pushed Penny Power passed the $750,000 milestone. Adams Electric Cooperative Human Resources/Benefits Administrator Brinkley Mueller presented the check to Dr. Melissa McKelvie PhD, Executive Director of Cornerstone.
