The H.E.L.P. Center (Humanitarian Efforts for Local People) of Rushville requested a Penny Power grant for food pantry items. Area food pantries, like the H.E.L.P. Center, have experienced fewer donations and are struggling to keep up with the need.
Adams Electric awarded an $800 Penny Power grant to the center to help with their cause. The Penny Power grant program is funded by members of Adams Electric whose bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar. Funds are earmarked for community betterment projects. The H.E.L.P. Center’s grant was one of 20 grants totaling $10,055 during the July cycle.
In addition to the Penny Power Grant, Adams Electric employees and directors organized an internal food drive. Cooperative employees and directors donated over 360 food items, amplifying their support for the H.E.L.P. Center. On Wednesday, August 7, the Cooperative delivered the Penny Power check and surprised volunteers with a van load of food.
